Here are some frequently asked questions that might help you prepare for your visit:

What can I expect at my appointment?
We believe that true comprehensive care takes time, dedication, and focus. Patients can expect a thorough examination by skilled and caring physicians. When making an appointment, ask an IEI representative how much time you should block off for your visit to the clinic.

Who will treat me?
As a patient, you can expect a thorough examination by skilled doctors and ample opportunity to ask questions about your eye health. During your appointment, you will also meet highly-trained students from the Illinois College of Optometry. Our students are supervised by attending doctors and are ready to provide you and your family with the best care.

Will my eyes be dilated?
Dilation allows us to examine a patient’s eye, better diagnose ailments, and look for early warning signs of larger health issues, such as diabetes. Dilation is an optometric best practice and an essential tool for a comprehensive exam. You should expect that your eyes will be dilated during your appointment.

Will I be referred to another clinic or hospital for surgery, should I need it?
The IEI provides a wide array of care, including surgery, all conveniently located in one building. Our staff has the knowledge, expertise and technology to treat even the most complex patient cases.

Can I afford to take care of my eyes?
The IEI aims to serve the needs of all patients, regardless of age, eye care needs, or income level. Please call the clinic to learn about the insurance plans we accept as well as programs for which you may be eligible.

If I need new glasses, where can I select my frames?
The Fait Family Eyewear Center at the IEI is located in our clinic and offers a wide optical selection, including the latest designer frames.

We want to make taking care of your vision and eyes as convenient as possible. The IEI is easy to access via public transportation and offers free, secure parking for our patients and their guests. Please see our Locations Page for a map and directions.
